What Is a Brow Lift?
✓ Medically reviewed by Dr. Andre Y. Levesque, MD · Board-certified plastic surgeon (ABPS) · Last reviewed September 5, 2025
A brow lift — also called a forehead lift — repositions a descended or heavy brow to a more youthful, open position while softening deep horizontal forehead lines and the vertical glabellar furrows between the brows. It directly addresses the heaviness and fatigue that a low brow imparts to the upper face.
Dr. Andre Y. Levesque performs the brow lift in Austin, TX using several techniques — endoscopic, temporal, or direct — selected based on your anatomy, hair line, and goals. The endoscopic approach uses small, concealed incisions within the hairline and a camera to precisely elevate the brow with minimal scarring and recovery.
A brow lift is often combined with upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) — since a descended brow can create pseudo-excess of the upper eyelid skin, and addressing both simultaneously produces the most natural, harmonious result. Many patients also combine with facelift surgery for comprehensive upper and lower face rejuvenation.
The goal is always a natural, rested appearance — not a surprised or overdone look. Dr. Levesque's brow lift results preserve the natural shape and character of the brow while restoring a youthful position.
Natural Brow Elevation — Never Overdone
The most common concern patients have about a brow lift is looking surprised. Dr. Levesque is meticulous about avoiding over-elevation — lifting the brow to a natural, youthful position rather than an unnatural height. The result should make you look rested, not operated on.
Technique selection matters enormously. Dr. Levesque selects the optimal approach (endoscopic, temporal, or direct) based on your anatomy, hairline position, degree of brow descent, and skin quality — ensuring the technique matches the problem.
What to Expect
From your first consultation to your final result, here's how the process works at Levesque Plastic Surgery.
Consultation
Dr. Levesque assesses your brow position, forehead anatomy, and hairline to select the optimal technique and discuss whether combining with eyelid surgery or facelift would improve your overall result.
Surgery Day
Most brow lifts take 1–2 hours in our private Austin surgical suite, typically under local anesthesia or light sedation. You go home the same day with simple bandaging and detailed care instructions.
Recovery & Results
Swelling and bruising resolve within 1–2 weeks. Most patients are socially presentable at 2 weeks. Hair in the incision area may temporarily thin but regrows. Final settled results are visible at 3–6 months.

Am I a Candidate?
Here's a general guide — Dr. Levesque will assess your candidacy personally at consultation.
Good Candidates Typically Have:
- Low or descended brow position that makes eyes look heavy or tired
- Deep horizontal forehead wrinkles
- Vertical glabellar furrows between the brows
- Asymmetric brow position
- Good overall health and stable weight
- Non-smoker or willing to quit ≥4 weeks before surgery
Factors That May Affect Candidacy:
- Active smoking — increases healing and complication risk
- Very high hairline (may need a different technique)
- Unrealistic expectations — results are natural, not dramatic
- Significant upper eyelid hooding (may need blepharoplasty added)
What Does a Brow Lift Cost?
Brow lift cost at Levesque Plastic Surgery depends on the technique selected, whether it is combined with eyelid surgery or facelift, and anesthesia type.

What Patients Say

Dr. Andre Y. Levesque, MD
Dr. Levesque approaches every brow lift with a single aesthetic goal: the brow should look naturally rested, as if time had simply been turned back. He is conservative by philosophy — preferring a natural result over an overdone one — and selects technique based on each patient's anatomy rather than habit.
His experience combining brow lifts with eyelid surgery and facelift means he understands the interplay of upper face anatomy and plans accordingly, producing harmonious, complete results from a single procedure.
