Lumecca IPL Photofacial
A powerful intense pulsed light photofacial that clears sun damage, brown spots, redness, and broken capillaries — for brighter, more even skin with little to no downtime.
Lumecca is a powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) photofacial that clears sun damage, brown spots, redness, and broken capillaries to even out skin tone with little to no downtime. In just one to three sessions, most patients see brighter, clearer, more youthful skin on the face, neck, chest, and hands.
It’s one of our most popular non-surgical treatments for “sun-damaged” skin — the freckling, brown patches, and diffuse redness that build up over years of Texas sun. Below, how it works, what it treats, before-and-after results, and what to expect.
Lumecca IPL Photofacial
Lumecca, by InMode, is a next-generation IPL that delivers a broad spectrum of light into the skin. That light is absorbed by two targets: melanin (the pigment in brown spots and freckles) and hemoglobin (the blood in tiny vessels and redness). The absorbed energy heats and breaks up those targets — pigment rises to the surface and flakes away over the following days, while unwanted vessels are cleared — leaving more even, luminous skin behind.
Because it treats pigment and vascular concerns at the same time, a Lumecca session can address several signs of sun damage and aging in one quick visit. It also delivers a gentle dose of light that supports skin quality over a series of treatments.
Lumecca is best suited to lighter and medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–IV) and to skin that is not actively tanned. At your consultation we’ll assess your skin type and history to confirm it’s the right, safe choice for you.
- Sun damage, brown spots & age spots
- Freckles and uneven pigmentation
- Redness, rosacea & flushing
- Broken capillaries & small vessels
- Dull, uneven tone and texture
Face, neck, décolletage (chest), and the backs of the hands — anywhere sun exposure has left pigment or redness.

What to Expect

The Treatment
After cleansing and eye protection, a cool gel is applied and the Lumecca handpiece delivers quick pulses of light. Most feel a warm snap, like a light rubber-band flick. A full face takes only about 15–20 minutes.
The Days After
Brown spots often darken to a “coffee-ground” look, then flake off over 3–7 days to reveal clearer skin. Redness targets fade. Mild pinkness may last a few hours. Most people return to normal activity right away.
Your Series
Many see a visible difference after one session; a series of 2–3 (spaced a few weeks apart) gives the best, longest-lasting result. Diligent sun protection afterward protects your investment.
Am I a Candidate?
Lumecca is a great fit if you:
- Have sun spots, freckles, redness, or broken capillaries you’d like cleared
- Want brighter, more even skin with little to no downtime
- Have a lighter-to-medium skin tone that is not currently tanned
- Can commit to sun protection before and after treatment
IPL targets pigment, so active tans and darker skin tones carry a higher risk of pigment change — in those cases we’ll recommend a safer alternative. It also isn’t a treatment for deep wrinkles or laxity; for those, Morpheus8 or CO2 laser resurfacing may suit you better.
Frequently asked questions
What does Lumecca treat?
Lumecca IPL treats sun damage, brown and age spots, freckles, redness and rosacea, broken capillaries and small vessels, and overall uneven tone — on the face, neck, chest, and hands.
How many Lumecca sessions will I need?
Many patients see a visible difference after a single session, but a series of two to three treatments a few weeks apart gives the best and longest-lasting result.
Is there downtime after Lumecca?
Very little. Brown spots typically darken to a coffee-ground look and flake off over 3–7 days, and any mild redness usually fades within a few hours. Most people go right back to their day.
Does Lumecca hurt?
Most patients describe a quick warm snap, like a light rubber-band flick. A cooling gel and the device's built-in cooling keep you comfortable, and a full face takes only about 15–20 minutes.
Is Lumecca safe for all skin tones?
Lumecca works best on lighter-to-medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–IV) that aren't currently tanned, since IPL targets pigment. For darker or tanned skin, I'll recommend a safer alternative after evaluating your skin at consultation.
When will I see results?
Your skin looks clearer within a week as the treated pigment flakes away and redness settles, with continued improvement across a series.
