This mother had a depressed exploratory-laparotomy scar below the belly button and disliked her abdominal core strength and contour with excess lower-abdominal skin. Because of the existing vertical scar, Dr. Levesque performed a fleur-de-lis lipoabdominoplasty — removing excess skin in both vertical and horizontal directions while revising the old scar without adding new ones. The procedure was done under general anesthesia at an accredited center with ERAS protocols and Lovenox thromboprophylaxis.

A fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty removes excess skin both vertically and horizontally — usually reserved for massive-weight-loss patients, but ideal here because she already had a vertical scar we could revise rather than adding a new one.

The depressed old laparotomy scar that split her lower abdomen is brought flush, and the vertical and horizontal excess is reduced together. With time the scars will continue to mature and fade.
